Property
The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is in the process of assembling the properties required to build the Highway 407 East. Properties are acquired by MTO through amicable purchase on a willing seller/will buyer basis. In cases where an amicable purchase cannot be reached, MTO will commence proceedings under the Expropriations Act.
If your property is required, you will be contacted by a MTO real estate officer. We understand that this may be a difficult time and are committed to help you through the process. In order to commence negotiations, the first step is estimating the market value of your property. Once the appraisal is completed, a ministry real estate officer will arrange a meeting to discuss compensation and work with you to reach an agreement.
Also, the ministry might require access to your property in order to conduct field work related to Highway 407 East. The information collected will be used by the project team for the project’s design and construction. Our intention is to minimize the disruptions to your daily life so we will contact you in advance and attempt to work around your needs.
If you wish to discuss any aspects of property acquisition for this project, please contact Joanne Stevens 407 East Property Head at 416-235-5011 or e-mail Joanne.Stevens@ontario.ca
