Overview

Highway 407 East is one of the largest highway construction projects ever to take place in Ontario.  The project will extend Highway 407 from Brock Road in Pickering to Highway 35/115 in Clarington, with two north-south connections to Highway 401.

Highway 407 East will help to relieve congestion and support the efficient movement of goods and people through the eastern GTA and beyond.  It is also expected to generate up to 13,000 jobs in the first phase alone.

Highway 407 East will be a tolled highway that is publicly owned and operated.  As a result, the province will benefit from the revenue generated.  The Highway will remain a provincial asset that will increase in value over time.

Highway 407 East will meet high environmental and safety standards.  The Highway includes a provision for a dedicated transitway and high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane in the future.
